The subs provided do not work. For one thing they are a .sup format file, which is not a subtitle file format, at least it is not according to VLC Player. These subs below do work, you just need to rename the file to the movie filename.

Sup subtitles are a type of subtitle commonly used on Blu-rays, HD DVDs and normal DVDs. The official name for these subtitles is PGS, which stands for Presentation Graphic Stream.
Oh, right, I had heard of PGS subs. Perhaps the issue is with VLC player which I used to try them out? I shall try them with Kodi on my Xbox instead, and report back to you.
