Description: In the year 1848, Italy is consumed by a revolution against their Austrian rulers, and a prisoner by the name of Cainazzo, who is a patriot, wonders if he will ever witness the revolution firsthand. Suddenly, a cannonball smashes through the prison wall, giving Cainazzo hope that he may finally get a chance to witness the revolution. However, his excitement is short-lived when one of his former inmates accuses him of being a traitor, leading to difficulties for Cainazzo with the revolutionary gangs.
